Contacting the User
On the Contact page there is a Contact Form that collects personal data: email address, first name, last name, and information input in the form by the user.
Content Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site the data is store and displayed in the comments form.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about the user, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor the interaction with that embedded content, including tracking user interaction with the embedded content if the user has an account and is logged in to that website.
Interaction with external social networks and platforms
The social buttons (Twitter, Facebook, Reddit) are used to direct users through to their accounts. Cookies and usage data are collected.
Who I share data with
No one. I do not share any personal data collected on this website with anyone.
SPAM Protection
Akismet feature of wordpress.com collects various types of data as specified in their privacy policy agreement.
How long is user data retained
If a user leaves a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register for the mailing list, I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.
What rights the user has over their data
The user can request to receive an exported file of their personal data collected by this website, including any data they have provided. The user can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about the user. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
